A Study on the Effectiveness of Dietary Habit Improvement Program for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Focused on Single Subjects Designs

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a single subject design aimed at improving the eating habits of individuals with ASD. The actual eating habits improvement program was analyzed based on the 19 foreign studies. For visual data extraction, GetData Graph Digitizer 2.26 was used and the Tau-U value was derived by comparing the interval. The main results are as follows. First, the average age of 31 ASD subjects was 6.4 year-old. Most of them were preschool or elementary school students. All 19 selected studies were tried to increase or decrease the problem of food intake and food rejection. The intervention of 19 studies were implemented had medium size of ES. Second, effect size(ES) of maintenance was higher than intervention. The ES was more significantly different among the age level. Also the fidelity of the intervention, social validity, and home linkage intervention was not significantly affect to ES. Based on the results of the meta analysis, discussion and suggestion were implemented.
